  1. Melissa Kobin says:

It’s vital that gay parents, our children, and the communities in which we live respect the numerous configurations that a family can take. However, lost in the shuffle are the needs of children and their non-legal parents who are deprived the protections that are automatically accorded straight families. If an adult gay relationship with children ends, the biological, or legal, parent has the power, indeed the right, to blow apart the lives of the other parent and their child(ren) by invalidating their parental/child bond and severing contact between them.

I wonder, where does that now childless parent fit? Is she or he still part of a family or even more importantly, is she or he still a parent?
