On Halloween evening, October 31, appropriately enough, at the La Femme Show Lounge, newcomer Bad Karma won the Miss Gay 90’s Contest, with a $500 cash award. In front of a large and appreciative audience, she emerged on top of a field of five contestants: Scotia, Octavia Bonet, Mercedes Iman, Shanice Rodgers, and Bad Karma. The contest consisted of three categories—evening gown, question and answer, and talent—with Bad Karma sweeping the latter. Longtime La Femme Show Director Nina Di Angelo emceed the event. Last year’s Miss Gay 90’s, perennial titleholder Geneva Richards, stepped down from her title, although she continues to reign as Miss City of the Lakes. Along with Di Angelo and Richards, other La Femme performers, including Prada Diamond, displayed their awesome talent at the contest. The La Femme ensemble is onstage Wednesday through Sunday at the Gay 90’s.
