Linda Eder, the elegant Minnesota vocalist who went from a stunning debut on “Star Search” to singing at Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center, will perform with the award-wining Twin Cities Gay Men’s Chorus. has forged a career as a modern soloist influenced by other artists including Barbra Streisand, classical/jazz soprano Eileen Farrell and especially Judy Garland. After an unprecedented 12-week run on “Star Search” in 1987, she captured the attention of composer Frank Wildhorn, who cast her in the leading role of Lucy Harris in the Broadway production of Jekyll and Hyde. She received a Drama Desk nomination for her performance and has since gone on to record 14 solo albums including her latest effort, “Now,” released in 2011. Eder also served as the spokesperson for Hennepin Theatre Trust’s SpotLight Musical Theatre Program for high school students from 2010-2012. Since forming in 1981, the Twin Cities Gay Men’s Chorus has built a solid reputation locally and nationally for musical excellence and dynamic programming and is one of the largest gay men’s choruses in the United States. 7th Annual Unofficial Gay Day at the State Fair
Sunday, August 25
MN State Fair Grounds • 1265 Snelling Ave. N., St. Paul

What a difference a year makes. Last year we were all wearing our VOTE NO shirts and worrying about our future. And look where we are today. What better way to celebrate than with piles of fried food and questionable fashion choices. In celebration of marriage equality, this year’s theme color is WHITE — perfect for wiping greasy fingers and collecting barn dust. Plan to enjoy the Fair on your own schedule, but if you’re looking for an easy way to join up with your posse and/or meet some new friends, rendezvous at the beer garden at the corner of Carnes and Liggett (near the entrance to the midway) at 3pm.
