The Guthrie Theater’s Level Nine Series in their smaller Dowling Studio space features three views of identity. Antonio Duke’s Tears of Moons, inspired by Homer’s The Iliad, addresses racial violence from 1955 to 2015. A. P. Looze’s Foray Softly looks into transgender identity, grief, spirituality, and family. Ifrah Mansour’s How to Have Fun in a Civil War reflects on the 1991 Somali Civil War with puppetry, poetry, video and interviews. Level Nine presentations are known for their message orientation and focus on work that has a progressive viewpoint.
