The History Theatre has revived the Minnesota musical, Glensheen, created by the state’s most widely produced playwright Jeffrey Hatcher, and composer/lyricist Chan Poling, who gave us what’s come to be known as the Same-Sex Marriage Anthem, Love is the Law. It deals with the 1977 murder of heiress Elisabeth Congdon and her night nurse, Velma Pietila, at Duluth’s Glensheen mansion.
Dane Stauffer was named by Lavender as Best Supporting Actor for his scruffy performance as Roger, a seedy criminal figure, in the first production. He is now reprising his performance and shares, “It’s a thrill to do this show, an honor to work with this this cast and material. I love the challenge of finding the right mix of humor, tragedy, and musical expression in portraying the highs and lows of this ‘lost soul.'”
