Advocates Survey “Golden Years” of Gay Elders

Mission Local reports that Tommi Avicolli Mecca came out as a queer man in South Philadelphia in the 1970s, a young revolutionary fighting social intolerance through his work in the Gay Liberation Front, but four decades later, Mecca, 61, is a senior activist in a graying gay community that is largely invisible and struggling with new sets of challenges.
