Actress Says ‘First Gay Hug’ Viral Video Used Actors to Portray Homophobes

FoxNews reports that a video called “First Gay Hug: A Homophobic Experiment” with the caption “We asked homophobes to hug gay strangers for the first time” went viral when it was posted on YouTube last March. But it was a fake, says a woman who appeared on the video.

    I’m not surprised. I think half of the viral videos today are like reality TV…NOT REAL!

    Some people got much needed hope from this video – people in the comments said things like “if this isn’t real, I’ll kill myself”. We have a duty to each other. I have reached out to people who were upset after finding out the video was fake. Find hope that there are many straight people who love you as is and find no flaw in your orientation.
    No one needed to be deceived for the message of acceptance to be promoted; effective satire can have huge impacts as well.
