Hi Bradley & Wanda!
So, the Obama administration just “defended” DOMA in court. I heard it on the Gay USA podcast.
I wonder if instead of a “March on Washington” on October 11th, we should ALL just change political parties until the Democrats come around. This might be a little premature and it could always backfire of course.
We voted for Bill Clinton and he gave us DOMA & Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. I remember that Sam Nunn helped to lead the charge against us. Darn those “Southern Democrats!” So close & yet so far. Oh well, maybe next time. Blah, blah, blah.
It’s all a show. Political Theatre. We’re a captive voting bloc that gets blackmailed for donations and votes. Is that ever going to change? And Hillary would have probably done the same thing.
So I’m thinking about perhaps changing to another (liberal) political party and researching an eventual permanent move to Vancouver, British Columbia.
I’ll be 50 in a few years and I’m not willing to wait until I’m 80 to get the right to marry. And I don’t even have anyone to marry. I just can’t stomach the idea of being 3/5 of a human being in my own country.
I don’t think anything (to ensure our rights) will happen until after the mid-term elections at the earliest. They may even wait until Obama’s second term. But what if the Democrats lose control of Congress? Then what? Ten more years of bullshit?
I’m hoping that what Obama is trying to do is to “quietly” pack the Supreme Court with judges who are sympathetic to our cause so that THEY can grant us equal rights.
But our community should plan ahead and decide what we’ll do if Obama sells us down the river. And the country may even make another major swing to right. Then what?
There’s a dvd on NetFlix called “Escape to Canada” that’s worth watching. It’s an “instant watch” too.

I truly believe that the Palins are too trashy to even understand the intrinsic nature of this PR whipwongle (I just made that word up). David Letterman is no longer responding to this nonsense, as he and his writing staff are moving on and continuing to ENTERTAIN AMERICA! Yay Dave!!!
Okay I lied.
“Escape to Canada” is NOT an “instant watch” program after all, but you can still order it through NetFlix.
Sorry about that. The voices in my head made me lie to you. : )
Didn’t something about the DOMA item strike you as odd? The part that especially got me was about saving the government money. Sounds like a freshman coming up with every reason under the sun to argue against something when he’s not quite sure what to say. Of course it’s just speculation but it almost seems like this got out of the Justice Department before being seriously vetted. Anyone with any political acumen would’ve shot down most of it. Speculation again, but I’d be surprised if there weren’t some “WTF” moments about the “arguments” in the White House after the storm hit.
The shows have been making me so angry lately – in a good way, though. It is so frustrating! I don’t understand why people preach about their belief in equality when they clearly don’t practice it. Some are more equal than others, perhaps? I’m amazed that so many people are perfectly fine living in a country that claims justice for all, where there clearly is not. Maybe the problem with Obama ultimately is he’s a politician.
It seems part of the issue with the disconnect between religion and politics as far as marriage is concerned seems to be that religion thinks that marriage is still their institution. But as soon as government went into the business of marriage, with the tax incentives and extended legal protections, sorry religion but you lost your monopoly. Our blood is as red and our money as green as theirs. And they sure seem to like our money. I hope there is a march on Washington.
Okay, I’ll add the only low-brow comment. I’ve often wondered why does someone who is old enough to kiss a soldier, still need a rubber dolly? Seems a little special to me.
I think we may have been “played” by Obama, but I could be wrong.
First he invites that Saddleback Church lying bigot of a preacher to say the prayer at his swearing in and now he’s defending DOMA. Nice.
I don’t have a job, but I still gave Obama $1,000 from my IRA before the election. How’s that for stupid?
Guess who’s not getting anymore?
It was money that I couldn’t really afford to give him, but the thought of a McCain – Palin administration made me sick.
I am happy that Obama won because he was the best candidate available, but if Hillary runs in 2012, I might just vote for her even though she’ll do the same thing.
Payback’s a bitch (and so am I).
Anyway, I searched for other political parties and the “Green Party” is the only one that comes close to my politics. I’m not sure I agree with everything they support, like automatic reparations for ALL people of color (and I’m half Japanese), but the Democrats are treading on thin ice with me.

The Green Party seems to want a $36 donation when you join, but I think you can switch parties at the post office without paying it.
And what’s $3 a month anyway?
But I still haven’t forgiven Nader & The Green Party for taking GOP money & “stealing” votes from Gore & Kerry.
There would never have been a “W.” presidency without their help.
Just thinking out loud.
I feel sorry for politicians.
They don’t win an election without money, and they don’t get money without supporting lobbies that give them their money.
