Thanks Wanda! You know, I have been on the fence for a while about the “gay marriage” issue and I have to say you’ve convinced me. Your lucid arguments about human rights in a democratic society vs. the beliefs of a religious group are sound and, dare I say, patriotic. I am constantly running up against the finger-waggers and the self-righteous who think that society is only what THEY see it is. I’ve usually given them leeway in their belief systems but you’re right. When that narrow world view starts legislating other people’s worlds we have to take a stand for basic rights and find the common ground of human dignity.
