This is one of the best interviews I have ever heard. Its the best that I have heard from both of you, in fact I don’t know if I’ve ever heard just the two of you talking about the issues and I have to say that I love it!
Both of you have been tremendous influences in the way that I blog and podcast. Whenever I have doubts about making a post or saying something that I feel or think, I think of Madge Weinstein and her refusal to censor herself and compromise herself for the sake of popularity. Whenever I experience fallout, or ridicule for saying something or posting something that I feel or think I hear Wanda Wisdom in my head saying that my voice is just as valid as the next persons. You two have not only had this impact on my blog and podcast but also on me as a person and I am so grateful that I have been able to experience what you have to say so early in my life and development as a person. Its really, like Madge said, one of the great things about podcasting, that you’re able to “meet” people that you wouldn’t have been able to otherwise.
Overall though I love the general topic of this discussion which is that there is an anti-itellectual sentiment sweeping this nation. If its not drama, if its not mean, if its not over the top obscene then no one is interested in it. The minute you ask people to stop and think about something real, something that is the slightest bit profound they become more offended than if you did something truly gratuitous and obscene. Its like we’re living in the twilight zone. What Madge said is so true, for example people would rather discuss David Blaine’s shriveled body after doing some stupid human trick than thinking about whether or not the food they eat was brought to their table in an ethical manner.
One of the best LBR episodes ever!
Adam has said it all for me; great show thanks.
Thanks Wanda!
Thanks Madge!
Luvs ya’ both me some big girls. hee hee
Marvelous episode !
I never really understood Madge and her crazyness. Now, it’s quite clear. I so much love to hear people like you and Wanda, you know, its the other kind of voice. The other opinion in these times of dumbness and mass-madness.
Agreed with Adam Krebs.
It’s so nice to hear ‘Richard’ instead of ‘Madge’ speaking for once (at least that’s the way it seemed to me)
Your thoughts on creating an alternative queer culture that doesn’t revolve around the commercial [bar] scene are interesting. I look forward to hearing more about that…
Finally, it’s a shame you can’t say ‘cunt’ any more tho. Is that self-censorship? Or corporately imposed?
did i say i couldn’t say that word? i’ll have to go back and listen again… nonetheless, i can say whatever i want. i may sometimes self-censor w/o thinking about it, but I think that’s probably just part of getting used to doing this professionally… sorry for the confusion…
As one of the non-tech fans I have to say—what a great show Wanda!! You and Madge have a chemistry that comes through and is fun to listen to. I love the new energy you have. I am looking forward to seeing how this all develops. LOVE you hard!
re [self]-censorship, I’m pretty sure you stopped youself in this show, but you definitely did it last last week…
Believe me, I’m so glad that your schtick doesn’t revolve around you saying ‘cunt’ every 2 seconds but it’d be nice to know that you’ve still got the right to say it when you choose.
Or you could get Puffy to change his last name…
Anyhow, keep up the wanderful work honaay.
