Wanda –
It’s good to see you deciding to make yourself healthier and happier
However, please don’t try and lose tons of weight before summer — that’s too much, too quickly.
Remember, you need to have both pieces of the puzzle: diet and exercise. Like you said, we can live our modern lives as isolated sloths. Get your drag queen behind to a gym! Do cardio & weights 5-6 times a week
It’s a time commitment, but you’re investing in yourself, and aren’t you worth it? OK maybe you’re not, but who cares what you’re worth when you look hot?? Just kidding
Finally, you should make this a LBR ongoing segment! “Downsizing Wanda” — take photos once a week and post them… be an inspiration to all that fat actresses out there.
I’m sure what we all MEAN to say is that we love you just as you are, but also want to you be healthy and happy and that we support you in this endeavor. And also that before you embark on a rigorous exercise regimen, be sure to see a doctor, to find out if there are any restrictions. You’re pretty young, so there probably won’t be any, but a doctor or trainer could probably advise you on how to get the most benefit from exercise and help you find the program that’s best for you. (Sometimes more is NOT better, at least to start with, and can actually make you more tired and want to quit. Trust me on this one. Sometimes they like you to “build up” to it, and just do more cardio at first.)
I wish the best for you! I struggle with the same issues myself and was successful 4 years ago, and then backslid after a few personal crises (the old “I Don’t Give A Shit Anymore” syndrome). It would be inspiring to watch someone else succeed…
Wanda Wisdom,
What a wonderful episode! I’m now very motivated to shape up-physically, mentally and spiritually. At the beginning of the year I had resolved to lose a little bit of weight, but my patterns of behaivor have not changed. I’ve thought about not smoking anymore, but my behaivor has not changed. I’ve thought about making more time for me and living a more balanced life, but my behaivor has not changed. Perhaps there is nothing like the first day of spring to start a bit of metaphysical cleaning. As always, thanks for the inspiration and good luck in your endeavors!
