A first-of-its-kind forum in Minnesota that will help teachers, social workers, administrators, as well as parents of GLBT individuals to create a safe school environment, will be held Friday, January 20, 2012 at Hamline University in St. Paul, Minn. The conference is hosted by PFLAG Twin Cities (www.PFLAGTC.com), a nonprofit that promotes the health and well-being of the GLBT community, their families and friends. The day-long, one-of-a-kind “Cultivating Respect: Safe Schools for All Students” conference will tackle GLBT bullying in schools, which has gained unprecedented national media attention following tragic incidents involving relentless harassment and increasing number of suicides of gay students. The conference, which includes numerous sessions and panels for educational professionals, social workers, psychologists, and parents of GLBT individuals and students, includes lunch and a resource fair, followed by a dinner and awards ceremony.
